Frequently Asked Questions

Does changing DPI change the image dimensions?

By default, only the DPI metadata is changed. You can optionally resample the image to change actual pixel dimensions.

What DPI should I use for printing?

300 DPI is standard for high-quality prints. 150 DPI works for large posters. 72 DPI is standard for web display.

Does this preserve EXIF metadata?

For JPG and PNG, yes. DPI changes only update the resolution tags — the pixel data and the rest of the metadata block come through unchanged. Resampling redraws the pixels, so use it only when you want new pixel dimensions.
